Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is apparently having serious problems finding someone to buy the naming rights for the team’s stadium, set to open in Arlington this fall. The experts say the failure to find a sponsor, caused by the recession, could cost the Cowboys hundreds of millions of dollars.

Not to worry, though. Gold Rush patriarch George Sanchez says his East Dallas restaurant, where he, the staff, and the regulars are huge Cowboys fans, would be happy to help. The Gold Rush will buy the naming rights for $200 or $300 in gift cards, and Jones could give them out as player bonuses, staff incentives, and the like. Imagine: Tony Roma and Jessica Simpson splitting a John Wayne for breakfast or Wade Phillips schmoozing with long-time customers over biscuits and gravy.

One caveat, though, says Sanchez. He might increase his offer if necessary, but Jones can’t use the cards himself. The owner is persona non grata at the Gold Rush after the Cowboys’ disappointing last two seasons.
