Last week I finally spoke with McKinney Boyd, who oversees communications for the United States Postal Service in Dallas, Greenville, Tyler Longview, Lufkin, and East Texas — that includes little ol’ Lake Highlands, an area with which he didn’t seem too familiar. In response to recent concerns, I asked him whether there was a chance the Northlake Post Office — officially Northlake Finance Center — or the nearby Hillside office was slated to close. After a moment of (I guess) looking things up, he told me neither was slated to close, as far as he knows.
He did say he was going to verify that and call me back within the hour, and that was the last I heard from him …
I figure no news is no news, and I’ll keep you posted as I learn of any new postal-related developments.
Initially, I assumed the community was totally behind a petition to save the neighborhood post office, but discussions here on Back Talk remind me to never assume.
