Support for our schools and their sports are nearly unmatched here in East Dallas. Woodrow Wilson and Bishop Lynch are both having great years athletically, excelling in a  number of sports.

At Woodrow Wilson High School, the boys cross country team won district and girls finished second in coach Dave Nibert’s first year as coach. Both teams went to regionals as part of their successful year.

The Woodrow team tennis teams were boys and girls district champions, and beat Conrad High School in the bi-district level of the playoffs. Coach Alexandra Graves adds another district championship to her trophy case.

Woodrow volleyball and coach Jim Harris won another district championship this season. They also beat Conrad High School in the bi-district championship before losing in the area playoffs.

Woodrow were district champions for football again, and will play Kimball High School in the playoffs this Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. at Forrester Stadium. They are led by the quarterback with the most wins in the history of the school, Cade Fennegan.

On the other side of the lake, the Bishop Lynch volleyball team made it to the state semifinals for the second year in a row and 16 of the 23 players are East Dallas natives. The Bishop Lynch football team is still undefeated and starts the playoffs at home against Beaumont Kelly High School on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
