The second draft of the Lakewood Conservation District Expansion ordinance (CD2) is now moving forward for review by the City Plan Commission. If approved, the next step will be for the City Council to review the ordinance and decide whether or not to adopt the expansion of the CD.

CD2 will be reviewed at the upcoming City Plan Commission hearing on Nov. 21 at 12:30 p.m. The hearing will be held by video conference and in the Council Chambers on the sixth floor at City Hall

Individuals interested in speaking at the meeting are advised to contact the Planning and Development Department at (214)- 670-4209 by 3:00 p.m.on Wednesday, Nov. 20 or register at this link to speak remotely.

To date, there have been 18 post-application meetings regarding the draft ordinance. The most recent meeting, held on Oct. 29, covered the latest changes — including modifications and edits to language and terminology — based on feedback from both the post-application meetings and surveys issued by the City.

Additionally, the City confirmed during the meeting that a study will be conducted in the near future — unrelated to this current CD process — that will analyze the economic impact of the City’s Historic Districts and Conservation Districts on property value. The study is projected to take a year to complete.
