It might not feel like winter outside, but it is time to get festive at Light Up Lakewood tonight at Harrell Park, on the northeast corner of Abrams and Gaston.
What started in 2002 as a simple customer appreciation event by Talulah and Hess owner Elizabeth Mast turned into a community extravaganza that includes a visit from Santa, a petting zoo, face painting, Lipscomb and Woodrow choirs, the Woodrow marching band and of course a Christmas tree lighting.
This year’s celebration will be in remembrance of Vicki Thompson, who was an integral part of planning the event in years past.
Bring a gift to donate to the toy drive for Wilkinson Center, which helps families out of poverty. The event runs from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
