It’s graduation season, and 29 little ones walked across a stage of their own at Wee Can Academy. The preschool is home to children of students at Texans Can Academies, a network of public high schools that serve students who struggle in a traditional school setting.
The school provides childcare for the children of students at Texans Can between six weeks and 4 years old as well as after school care for ages 5 to 12. There are six Wee Can Academies located on Texans Can campuses across Texas, including one in East Dallas on Ross Avenue.
The schools provide an affordable option for students at Texans Can and allows them to get their diploma while their child is nearby and cared for. This May, we wrote about a future Texans Can graduate who came back to school to excel after dropping out.
“It was a joy to see these preschoolers walk across the stage in their mini caps and gowns and receive their very first diploma,” said Carol Wentworth, director of Child Care Operations for Texans Can Academies. “These are the moments our organization looks forward to all school year.”
