UPDATE: This is odd, but I guess the home not only isn’t for sale now, but maybe it wasn’t when the original DMN story appeared the other day. An update yesterday in the News indicated that the Realtor who was the source of all of the information about the sale actually no longer has the contract to sell the home (the contract had expired), and the home’s owner talked with the News and said the home is no longer for sale. So, as Saturday Night Live’s Emily Litella used to say … Never mind.

Here’s the original post: Now, here’s a real estate transaction that will skew all of the sales comps in our neighborhood if it happens: How about $50 million or so for the Mt. Vernon estate on White Rock Lake? At least, that’s what the DMN is theorizing the 10,720-square-foot mansion once owned by H.L. Hunt could be selling for, now that it’s on the market as part of what the real estate agent suggests is a "downsizing" by the owner, who I believe is a commercial real estate guy named John Amend. I don’t know Amend, nor have I ever been in the house (despite a few invitations for fund-raisers of various sorts), but it sounds like a pretty nice place … 4-lane bowling alley purchased from the Neiman-Marcus catalog (you know they got a deal on that one), outdoor brick pizza oven, putting green, 16-car garage, tennis court, basement with elevator, and a horseshoe pit (hey, I bet I could afford that one). Anyway, I’m starting to wish I had gone to the house when I was invited.
