Until two weeks ago, I’d lived in my Wilshire Heights home for six years and literally never stepped foot in the Tom Thumb on Mockingbird. I started shopping at the Albertson’s because it didn’t require that I drive across Mockingbird. I’ve blogged twice (here and here) about what I perceived to be an increase in customer service at Albertson’s, and was pretty much set on staunchly continuing to defend it.

That is, until I finally went to Tom Thumb. My kid turned 2 recently and I’d heard great things about TT’s bakery, so I went there to buy the birthday cake. I won’t list all the store’s attributes, because I’d guess everyone who reads this blog already knows about them and was wondering just what was wrong with me that I shopped at Albertson’s. Suffice to say, people were nice and helpful and even my fellow grocery shoppers smiled at me. It also has nice lighting.

Last night, my husband went to Albertson’s to pick up a few things. He was run into by one employee there who didn’t so much as mutter a "sorry." Then two more employees cut him off on his way to the cash register. So he put his items back (he’s conscientious like that), drove across the street and spent his money there.

Scott family conversion to Tom Thumb: complete.
