Flames could be seen flickering from the roof of a two-story home in the Glencoe Park neighborhood last night. So far, no injuries have been reported.

Shortly after 2017 began its reign at midnight, two battalions rushed to the 5300 block of Longview for the two-alarm fire. According to a post from DFW Scanner, “quite a bit of smoke” plumed out of the roof. Commenter Jennifer Jabara added photos of flames engulfing the upper level of the house.

The cause of the fire is not known. Fires are more common on holidays that involve celebratory fireworks like New Year’s Eve and Independence Day — the National Fire Protection Agency reports that fireworks caused more than 15,000 fires in 2013, the bulk of which are grass fires.
