Kroger partnered with ghost kitchen company Kitchen United in 2021. Since then, ghost kitchens have been implemented in grocery stores across the United States.

A ghost kitchen allows a restaurant to make food for delivery and takeout. Sometimes, more than one brand can share a kitchen. For example, before it had a brick-and-mortar space, Thunderbird Pies was a ghost kitchen.

The Kroger at 5665 E. Mockingbird Lane will be the site of a Kitchen United ghost kitchen. The company applied for a certificate of occupancy at the location, and Kitchen United also announced its plans on its website.

A spokesperson for Kitchen United said in an email to The Advocate that the ghost kitchen is expected to open in May, but the restaurants that will be participating are not being revealed yet. We will update when we know which ones.

This will be the first Kitchen United in Dallas, but not the first in Texas, as it has already been implemented in Austin in Houston. And the business is planned for Frisco and Plano, according to Kitchen United’s website.

When the concept is open, neighbors will be able to choose the Mockingbird Kroger as the preferred location, select either pick-up or delivery, shop for meals from restaurants and pay online. Meals from different restaurants can be ordered on the same bill.

Kroger is located at 5665 E. Mockingbird Lane.
