All year long we wait for pumpkin spice, gingerbread and eggnog. But sometimes, once it’s finally here, we just want something that doesn’t taste like it came off Santa’s sleigh. If you’re looking for a break, don’t forget about these year-round East Dallas favorites:

The buttermilk chai pie at Corner Market at Greenville and McCommas is easily one of the best desserts I’ve ever put in my mouth. Bring some tissues, because it’s so good, you might need to shed some happy tears.

If you’re in the market for a new weakness, check out the key lime pie from Aw Shucks on Greenville or Big Shuck on Mockingbird. They sell them by the slice or whole. I could go for a key lime pie on a holiday dessert table.

You can’t talk desserts without including Nothing Bundt Cakes in Casa Linda Plaza. As the name implies, they specialize in bundt cakes, and they’re very very good at what they do.

I read somewhere once that the cinnamon rolls from the Mecca at Skillman and Live Oak are as big as a catcher’s mitt, and I thought they were joking. They’re not.
