I Love Juice Bar, brought to the neighborhood by Lakewood Hills franchisee Sohail Basirat, opened on Friday, Aug. 18. These healthy beverages are made fresh to order in the location at Lakeview shopping center (on the southwest corner of Gaston and Garland).

Hello Dumpling, which makes Chinese classics on Peavy where Good 2 Go Taco once resided, also opened recently. The new eatery will eventually have an adjoined tea salon.

Woodrow grad Abel Gonzales opened Republic Ranch on Ross Avenue.

Republic Ranch, from Woodrow grad and self-proclaimed “Fried Jesus” Abel Gonzales, will have its grand opening Saturday. The sprawling restaurant on the quickly developing strip of Ross between downtown and Greenville Avenue will offer oversized board games on a massive patio, an arcade, bar and Tex-Mex. Gonzales made a name for himself with Texas State Fair creations such as fried butter and fried Coca-Cola, and will now try his hand at running the eatery at 3121 Ross Ave.
