This will be the fourth location for Fish Gallery, which started 38 years ago and has showrooms in the Houston area and Addison.

The Aquarium Boutique, which was a one-stop shop for all things aquarium, shared in May that it was closing after 12 years.

Yuki Shinoda, the owner of The Aquarium Boutique, said financial issues, some of which were brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, were the reason for the closure.

Before opening the store, located in the former Boutique Pet Store space on Garland Road near White Rock Lake, Shinoda was a Spanish teacher.

He told the Advocate that he planned to return to teaching after shutting down the aquarium store; Shinoda could not immediately be reached to confirm his career plans, but he wrote in a Facebook post on June 18 that he intended to go back to teaching.

Fish Gallery specializes in aquarium design and installation services and handles aquarium care and maintenance. The company also sells fish, aquatic plants and supplies.

The Aquarium Boutique, which will become Fish Gallery, is located at 9035 Garland Road in White Rock Shopping Center. As of publication, opening hours are 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 12-6 p.m. Sunday.
