Dream Cafe at Abrams and Mockingbird is now open.

We learned last summer that the Dallas-based restaurant signed a lease for the space where Fuzzy’s Taco Shop used to be. They hoped to open last year but were delayed.

Although the restaurant is open, construction will continue for the secure children’s play area, which was promised back in July. It will be beside the porch in the front of the building.

The space has been radically changed on the inside, making it look similar to other Dream Cafe locations in Dallas. There’s a giant porch for lounging, plus two big garage door/windows, which open between the indoor dining area and the porch.

There are two Dream Cafe locations — one in Uptown and one in Addison — that have been serving the Dallas area for more than 20 years. Although Dream Cafe is probably best known for its breakfast and weekend brunch, it serves wide lunch and dinner menus full of fresh, “wholesome” American cuisine, including a solid handful of gluten free options. The East Dallas location is owned by Lakewood neighbor Christine Lott.
