Multiple 911 calls came in at 12:36 a.m. when the two-story apartment at Gaston Avenue and N. Munger Boulevard was in flames. When firefighters arrived, the fire was already in advanced stages, the public information officer says.

The Red Cross was called to help. One firefighter became overheated and was transported to a hospital. A resident was also taken to a hospital for an unrelated reason.

Investigators say the fire was accidental and caused by unattended cooking in the kitchen of a second-floor apartment.

The fire was put out around 2:30 a.m. There were no deaths.

Last month, there was another fire at an apartment complex nearby, near Live Oak Street and Munger.
