District 14 Park and Recreation Board member Rudy Karimi and Friends of Tietze Park were supposed to hold the final meeting June 6, but the event was canceled because of inclement weather.

FOTP applied for a fund-matching program through the city in October 2021. So far, $25,000 has been raised by FOTP through private donors. If the proposal is approved, the city will match that amount and the project will move forward.

Karimi and FOTP are confident that the installation of the court will be beneficial to the park and its surrounding residents, but some neighbors are unsure. After holding two meetings, Karimi and FOTP have addressed the concerns as best as they can. Moving forward, the best way for residents to express their opinion is to come to the next meeting.

While no formal vote will be held, Dallas Park and Recreation staff will be present at the next meeting and determine if the majority of attendees are in favor of the proposed court. In the meantime, residents and neighbors can contact Karimi via email (rudy.karimi@dallas.gov) and see project updates on the FOTP website and Facebook page.

The meeting will take place June 21 at 6 p.m. on the proposed court’s site, just south of the parking lot. Tietze Park is located at 2700 Skillman St.
