Bubble Soccer. Yes, it's as great as it sounds.

Bubble Soccer. Yes, it’s as great as it sounds.

A couple weeks ago we launched Flashback Friday (#FBF), where we dig through old magazine stories or blog posts and share them with you every Friday. I searched through some of our most popular blog posts, and guess which East Dallas-based activity grabbed neighbors’ attention? Yep. Bubble Soccer.

Back in 2014 neighbor Steve Mosley founded Bubble Soccer USA at his home on Gaston. It was one of the first Bubble Soccer locations to open in the U.S. since the sport originated overseas.

In case you don’t know what Bubble Soccer is it’s basically what it sounds like: people playing soccer while strapped inside full-body, blow-up bubbles made of plastic, similar to a giant, see-through beach ball. Only the players’ legs stick out.

Basically imagine human-sized lollipops kicking a ball around a soccer field — and smashing into each other because, well, they can.

Still confused? Click through this hilarious slideshow of East Dallas folks playing Bubble Soccer. Go ahead, have a laugh.

Apparently neighbors appreciated the hilarity of this sport as much as I did because the blog post racked up more than 46,000 views. You only need to watch this YouTube video to understand why.
