The White Rock & Lake Highlands YMCAs are teaming to sponsor a fund-raising golf tournament April 6 at Brookhaven Country Club. Derek Smith, executive at the White Rock Y, says the 1 p.m. shotgun start will be followed by a 6 p.m. dinner from Eddie Deen’s Ranch. (My wife went to high school in Wills Point, Texas, with the now-famous Deen clan; Eddie made his name serving up barbecue for the many inaugurations of George W. Bush both in Texas and D.C.)

Tournament proceeds benefit the YMCA’s outreach programs, allowing families who have suffered job losses or simply don’t have enough money for their kids to attend summer camps or after-school activities to receive "scholarship" assistance. Price per player is $125; call Jayson at 214-221-9622 or Derek at 214-328-3849 for more information, or click here to download the tournament brochure via pdf format.
