It all started with a craving for some good old-fashioned, whole fat yogurt.

Last Tuesday Lakewood resident Kris Chelette started a Facebook group called, “Bring Central Market to East Dallas,” with the hopes a little online buzz will convince Central Market to set up shop in the Gaston-Garland-Grand shopping center.

As much as he enjoys Whole Foods, unfortunately they stopped carrying his preferred brand of yogurt — ones like Greek Gods Yogurt that have all the fatty goodness, he says.

“I was annoyed enough to actually make the trip to Central Market, which just kind of rekindled my relationship with that store. I just like it, and it’d be nice to have one a little closer,” he says.

On Sunday Chelette send a friendly location recommendation to Central Market via their Contact Us page on their website, but he soon received the generic “We currently don’t have any plans to build there, but thank you for your input” response.

He also sent an email to Whole Foods asking if they would carry his yogurt again, and, while he was at it, he saw he could easily create a Facebook group, so he did. So far it has about 2o members.

“Hopefully if enough people take an interest, we can generate some noise and actually have an influence on what goes in there,” he says. “Who knows, they used Facebook to get Betty White on SNL, right?”
