Ah, hear that? That’s the great outdoors calling your name. And Woodrow grad Ryan Douglas is about to launch a website that will make it cheaper and more convenient for you to answer that call.

OK, that sounds cheesy, but this is for real. Douglas is the co-founder of CampReward.com, an online travel company that’s basically Expedia + camping, and the full website is launching later this week.

“We work with the campgrounds to put them on our site,” Douglas explains. “Then we market to customers, and customers are able to review all the campgrounds, book and pay for it on our site. They earn points, and if they earn a certain number of points they can get a free night’s stay at one of our participating campgrounds.”

CampReward offers online booking for RV and tent camping. There are also cabins, yurts and “glamping” (camping with glamour) options available.

Douglas says he was born and raised in Lakewood. After graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School, he went to University of North Texas, and then he completed his MBA from Baylor University.

“Texas is going to be a huge market for us,” he predicts. Check out the website for more.
