The restaurant offering an all-day breakfast, lunch and dinner menu will open July 10, co-founder Joe Groves said. He had previously mentioned a targeted opening date of early June, but that has passed.

In January, Groves told the Advocate that Ellen’s was waiting on a gas line and kitchen equipment.

When those issues were resolved, the restaurant had to wait for furniture and an OK from city inspectors, and staff had to be trained.

Neighbors have been awaiting the restaurant since it announced plans to expand to East Dallas in 2021. This is the third location for Ellen’s, which also has stores in Allen and Downtown Dallas.

The Casa Linda restaurant is at the southwest corner of Garland Road and North Buckner Boulevard and sits where a gas station used to be.

While the building was being constructed in 2019, some people complained that it blocked the view of the historical shopping center and was too close to the road. The brunch chain Snooze was supposed to be the building’s first tenant, but plans changed.

Groves said no grand opening events are planned for the East Dallas restaurant. They’ll just open their doors.

Ellen’s, located at the corner of Buckner and Garland near Starbucks, will be open 7 a.m.-9 p.m. daily.
