Elisa and Peter Morrissey both work at Dallas ISD schools in our neighborhood. And they may have just set a record.
According to The Hub, they are the first married couple to be recognized as top educators. Elisa was named the 2018 teacher of the year, and Peter was a finalist for the 2021 teacher of the year.
Both have taught at Alex Sanger Preparatory School. Peter is still an educator there, and Elisa is now an assistant principal at George W. Truett Elementary School.
The Morrisseys met at Texas State University. They married and had two kids who now attend DISD schools.
Here’s what each had to say about working at DISD.
“Working with students and serving in education is something we are both passionate about,” Elisa said. “Dallas ISD really is home for us.”
“Being able to connect with students and make a difference, there really is no other feeling like that,” Peter said.
