On Tuesday, Dec. 14 at about 8 p.m. an East Dallas woman was attacked and robbed outside her home on Moritz Ave. in the Caruth Terrace neighborhood. The victim, 51-year-old Sherry Baldwin, was returning home from the gym when, at the rear of her home, facing Norris St., two black males exited a parked car and came toward her. She screamed and they told her to “shut up” and then hit her over the head and stole her cell phone, according to the police report. Though she was bleeding, she was able to contact the police and to give them a description of the man who hit her: 5’5 185 pounds and he was wearing a tan hoodie. The men fled in an unknown vehicle and police are still searching for them. Balwin declined transportation to the hospital, according to the report, so here’s hoping she’s not hurt too bad. The Caruth Terrace neighborhood Association sent an alert stating that they are “very alarmed and upset” and that this type of violent crime is very rare in the neighborhood.  We will report more info as we get it.
