On Aug. 22, Greenville Avenue Pizza Co. is hosting Slices for Supplies, collecting school supplies and raising funds for Dallas ISD and Richardson ISD schools.

Bring new packages of pencils, pens, notebooks or folders, or monetary donations to a GAPCo location near you between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Aug. 22. Donors will receive one free slice of pizza with one topping of their choice.

The Lowest Greenville shop will give the donations to Geneva Heights Elementary, the Peavy Road location is working with Martha Turner Reilly Elementary, and the Richardson store is partnering with Carolyn Bukhair Elementary.

Another local restaurant, Oak’d BBQ, will donate 25% of gross sales on Aug. 23 to Kidd’s Kids.

The nonprofit was founded by radio host Kidd Kraddick. Since it was founded in 1991, it has taken more than 1,000 kids with life-altering or life-threatening conditions and their families on a free trip to Disney World.

“We’ve long admired Kidd’s Kids and recognize the great work they’re doing to brighten the lives of children and their families,” Michael Lane, the chef and founder of Oak’d, said in a press release.

Both the Greenville Avenue (5500 Greenville Ave.) and Addison Oak’d locations are participating in this fundraiser.

Both Mandell and Lane use their talents and businesses to give back to the community. GAPCo. hosts the Slices for Supplies event annually, and Lane provides meals to firefighters and military reservists throughout the year, he told us in a September 2021 feature story.Â
