Kristin Reed and some other moms of St. Thomas Aquinas School kids came up with an idea to help earthquake victims in Haiti that so far has raised some $7,000.
Kids from all over East Dallas are selling "Hope for Haiti" T-shirts that Reed, who owns a graphic design firm, designed. Another mom gave them a discount on the T-shirts, and the group of about 12 women paid the balance to have the T-shirts produced. But they’re donating 100 percent of sales to the Red Cross in Haiti.
They started the project because their kids wanted to help out.
"Kids need to feel like they can make a difference," Reed says. "We conceived the idea, but the kids activated it, and they’ve really done a good job."
The kids sell the shirts for $20 at school and on facebook.
