On Monday evening, a neighbor parked her car in the driveway of her home in the Casa Linda area. The woman, who asked to remain anonymous, lingered at her car just long enough to grab her briefcase before heading towards the back door.
“There was nothing out of the ordinary, nothing to trigger any kind of worry,” she recalls.
Suddenly, a man came up behind her and grabbed her briefcase out of her hand. He didn’t talk to her or make any noise. At first she was confused, thinking maybe her son was playing a prank on her, but then she remembered her children were inside the house.
“I realized it wasn’t my son, and that’s when it scared me,” she says.
When she turned around, she saw a man in a ski mask with a long, dark overcoat. He seemed to be about 5’9″-5’11” with an average build. He ran down her driveway to a car that was parked behind some bushes along the street and drove off.
This is one of about a dozen similar incidents in East Dallas. On Tuesday, the Dallas Morning News ran a story that recounted the tales of several other East Dallas women. Later that day, Robert Wilonsky posted a crime blog that included two more incidents. He also pointed to a recent warning the Dallas Police posted on their Facebook page.
According to the report, the suspect is described as a white male between 5’9″ and 6 feet, weighing 160-200 pounds and wearing a ski mask.
