DISD summer events include a discovery camp for 4th (entering 5th) graders and an event for procrastinating graduates who haven’t yet enrolled in college.

Monday, June 13: Science Discovery camp is a three-week, two-way dual language science program available to all district fourth-graders (bilingual, ESL and general education) who will enter the fifth grade next fall. Students will participate in an inquiry-based learning environment to prepare them for skills and concepts included in the fifth-grade curriculum. The program will be available at TAKS Academy sites. Tuesday, June 14: All high school graduates who have not yet made college plans are invited to the Major Mania event 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, at the West Campus of El Centro College, 3330 N. Hampton Road. The free, one-stop shop event, will provide on-site admission, as well as assistance with financial aid and in selecting a major, and information about the special programs available at the Dallas County Community Colleges.
