I am proud of the outstanding opportunities both Bryan Adams and Conrad offer high schoolers through their early college programs and NAF academies.

Did you know our early college programs give students the opportunity to earn a high school diploma and up to 60 college credit hours or an associate degree while in high school?

Bryan Adams P-TECH at Eastfield College is an early college program that enables students to explore a wide range of career interests in the field of education. Students have the opportunity to develop the skills and experience to set them up for a successful career in the field of education.

Conrad Global H-TECH at Richland College is an early college program that is tailor-made for students interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). What’s more, this program has a focus on gaming – one of the most exciting fields in technology today. As students collaborate, design, and create solutions, they acquire the communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills so valued in today’s workplace.

NAF (National Academy Foundation) is another great way Dallas ISD is preparing students to be college and career ready. NAF academies are structured as small, focused learning communities that fit within and enhance high school systems. NAF provides a rigorous, industry-validated career-themed curriculum that incorporates current industry standards and practices. The curricula is created in partnership with industry professionals and designed around projects that help students acquire valuable workplace skills and see their education as a step toward long-term career options.

On his most recent visit to Conrad, Superintendent Michael Hinojosa said, “the impact of NAF academies was readily apparent… You could feel the enthusiasm and support for the NAF program immediately.”

This school year alone, there are 10,676 Dallas ISD students enrolled in 47 NAF academies. In 2018, 99 percent of NAF seniors graduated..

The academies offered at BA include Engineering, Health Science, and IT. The academies offered at Conrad include Engineering, Finance, Hospitality and Tourism, Health Science, and IT.

Kudos

Congratulations to Jack Lowe Elementary School for being selected as one of eight Dallas ISD campuses to become an innovation school. The school will take on a Personalized Learning model, focusing on student’s interests, talents and goals. Students currently attending Lowe are welcome to continue at the school and benefit from the new academic model.

Kudos to Jennifer Jackson, from Hexter Elementary, and Phoebe Montgomery of Reinhard , who were named Dallas ISD’s Master Principals. This recognition was given to 22 top-performing principals in the district.

Congratulations to BA for taking first place in their division at the Region XII Academic Decathlon competition last month. Best of luck to them as they advance to the State Academic Decathlon Competition this month.
