“Well, it’s been a great run, but we have reached the finish line. Thank you for your support and good vibes over the years. It has truly been a blast to ride with you,” the company announced on its website.

Owner Nick Badovinus opened Desert Racer on December 18, 2019, the restaurant specializing in Southwestern cuisines. Its rust-colored rugs, cacti and pictures of cars were a staple to the inside of the restaurant, the Advocate reported. Outside, an 8,000-square-foot patio consisted of outdoor games including cornhole and foosball.

Desert Racer served burgers, tacos and other cantina foods along with bar offerings like sangrias, wine, beer and specialty cocktails.

On March 17, the restaurant posted to Instagram they would be closed for the day. However, the post did not share if this was a permanent closure.

Employees of Desert Racer were invited to move to Surf Camp, another Badovinus patio restaurant located in Downtown Dallas, according to the Dallas Morning News. The establishment reopens March 27, for the warmer season.
