The East Dallas burglar who has raped one woman and beaten another in her bed wakes his victims after robbing them of small electronics. And while police believe the same man has robbed six homes in our neighborhood since October, none of the victims has given a concrete description.

"They’re asleep. It’s dark. He’s covering his face," said Sr. Cpl. Kevin Janse of the Dallas Police.

The man has been described as between 20 and 35, between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-9, and between 170 and 210 pounds. His race is unknown, and there are no details about how he looks. He enters through unlocked doors and windows and has awoken his victims, which include men and women, by physical contact, noise or sounding an alarm.

The good news is that the crimes haven’t escalated in violence, Janse said. The rape case, which occurred on Penrose in October, was first in the string. Since June, the thief has entered homes on La Vista, Vanderbilt, Vickery and two homes on Goodwin.
