The five-day process began Tuesday, when alumni, staff and teachers gathered at the Lower Greenville campus to say goodbye, Dallas ISD reports.

Geneva Heights is expected to reopen in fall 2024, with brand-new classrooms, playgrounds, gardens and more. The campus remodel, coming with a price tag of about $31 million, is part of Dallas ISD’s 2020 Bond project.

Not every building on campus, located on Delmar Avenue, was demolished. The original 1931 building will remain and be incorporated into the new design.

Principal Patrice Lane is relatively new to the school, though she came with many years of experience at Dallas ISD.

When we spoke with her for one of our summer issues, she told us about how involved the community has been with the campus redesign.

“I have learned that they are invested in this, they put time, they put resources into making the school a place for their children,” Lane said.

Students are taking classes at the former Jill Stone Elementary in Vickery Meadow while construction is ongoing.
