The secret to a long and lasting relationship? It’s all about date night. So says Hector Garcia, owner of Hector’s on Henderson where live music and imaginative dishes blend to create the perfect setting for an evening of romance. Garcia, a romantic himself, is always looking to give patrons an extra dose of love potion. At the restaurant’s first Valentine’s Day dinner, each couple walked out with a tiny can of chocolate body paint (complete with brush). No promises for a repeat this year, Garcia says, but anyone who dines at Hector’s should expect the unexpected. That’s clear from executive chef Blythe Beck’s menu, with dishes such as lambchop lollipops and lasagna layered with lump crab and tiger shrimp. “We have fun,” Garcia says, “but we take our food seriously.”
