That’s right, the school district recently climbed onto the Facebook bandwagon, and what is likely its biggest social media announcement thus far came today: a projected $23 million surplus for the 2009-10 school year. I’m sure the district is thrilled to be able to proclaim the word “surplus” considering the financial scrutiny both DISD and Superintendent Michael Hinojosa have been under since the 2008 budget crisis.

Along with a new Facebook page, the district plans to roll out a redesigned website at the start of the 2010-11 school year.
