The Dallas Cinemania Film Society, which screens one 35-mm film at the Angelika every month, is reducing its ticket prices by half to $5, starting with next month’s showing of Orgasmo. The price slashing doesn’t start until after the sword clashing in Thursday’s flick, Shogun Assassin. That show is $10 and starts at 8 p.m.

Lowering ticket prices is a trend in the entertainment business.  As Live Nation chief executive officer of global music Jason Garner told Rolling Stone this week: “The economy has forced artists, managers, agents and promoters to ask, ‘How do I make my show the one that the fan will spend his money on?’”
