An East Dallas educator who helps upperclassmen prepare for college received a national teaching award from the National Society of High School Scholars.

Davida Robinson won a Claes Nobel Educator of the Year Award for her work at the charter school, Uplift Education Peak Preparatory.

Robinson has worked at the school on Bryan Street since 2011. She is responsible for advising and counseling 11th- and 12th-grade students through the course, “Road to College Trainer,” which is geared toward college preparation.

She has helped students with disabilities and collaborated with teachers to modify course material.

The Claes Nobel Educator of the Year Award spotlights the achievements of the most outstanding educators in the United States. The prize is named after the great-nephew of Alfred Nobel and supports his family’s tradition of recognizing world-class minds.
