The city is seeking Dallas residents who are highly educated or concerned about the environment to serve on its gas drilling task force, which will propose revisions to the city’s gas drilling ordinance.

The city needs three experts in environmental impact studies, air quality, water quality or soil contamination as it is related to gas drilling. Examples include professors, environmental attorneys, environmental consultants and land use or zoning attorneys.

Three representatives from business and industry also are needed. Examples include gas drilling company representatives with a presence in the Barnett Shale and oil and gas attorneys.

Three other interested or affected residents will be chosen for the panel.

Committee members will meet from 2-4 p.m. on at least eight Tuesdays from July through October. Applications should be submitted online and are due by 5 p.m. Monday, May 23.
