No more navigating the snarl of traffic to pay your tickets, as Dallas residents now have an easier way to pay for citations, thanks to an improved 311 app.

The Dallas Municipal Court launched a new program that enables Dallasites to pay tickets over the phone, online or at retail locations. To pony up, neighbors can dial 214-670-0109, choose the “pay by phone” option and speak with a real human being 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Tickets can also be paid in cash at 135 7-Eleven or Ace Cash Express locations all over Dallas. The city hopes to eventually have 774 locations to do the same around DFW. Residents can also pay online at courts.dallascityhall.com by clicking the “payment options” button.

For neighborhood watchdogs, Dallas’ 311 app allowed residents to request new trash cans, report an errant rental bike or a pothole in the neighborhood, but it wasn’t the most user-friendly experience. Dallas is launching a new app called OurDallas, which should make the experience more enjoyable.

Margaret Wright, Assistant Director of 311, told D Magazine that the new app will have a more functional map and will serve as a entry point into interacting with all parts of city government. You can receive bulk trash (the schedule may be changing) reminders and updates on service requests. They also are looking to incorporate artificial intelligence and allow residents to upload pictures.

The old app goes down on Sept. 26 and the new one should be live by Oct. 1. In the gap, neighbors can call 311 like the old days.
