After a big rain, the neighborhood loves to head down to the White Rock spillway and take in the raging flow. This weekend, a couple of intrepid young neighbors brought an inflatable watercraft and were exploring a flooded field. They lacked a paddle, but had a stick to gondola their way around the temporary lake.

In the 24 hours preceding Saturday afternoon, Dallas received over 8 inches of rain, which was the third wettest 24-hour period in Dallas’ history, according the Dallas Morning News. The recent rain helped this month shatter an 86-year-old record for the wettest September ever. There has been 11 inches of rain in Dallas this month, breaking the previous record of 10.8 inches in 1932.
