Chilangos Tacos, an authentic street-style restaurant opened on Ross Avenue Saturday. The Mexican restaurant’s grand opening included a live DJ, Latin pride and giveaways. The line began early and wrapped around the building for fresh $1 street tacos, cold beers and margaritas promo until 11 p.m.

Some Chilangos fans went as far as camping outside of the restaurant in hopes of being first in line for the ribbon cutting. 

Although the restaurant is well-known for its street tacos, the homemade churros by Duke Churro, filled with Mexican Cajeta coated with cinnamon sugar, are a featured item.

Some of the popular menu items are:

  • Los Elotes, it’s corn in a cup with mayo, sour cream, and cheese, a staple Mexican side dish derived from Mexico City.
  • Quesadilla Barbacoa slow-cooked beef on a flour tortilla with melted cheese topped with onions, cilantro, and salsa.
  • Taco Barbacoa, slow-cooked beef on either corn or flour tortilla, topped with onions, cilantro, and salsa of choice.

Signature items include:

  • Las Costras, Chilangos’ signature griddled cheese taco with protein of choice, served on a flour tortilla topped with onions, cilantro, and your choice of salsa.
  • Los Nachos, Chilangos signature nachos made with queso, shredded cheese, pico, sour cream, guacamole salsa Topped with choice of protein: Carne Asada, Pastor, Barbacoa, Pollo or Hongos.
  • Chingorita, the signature mango chamoy margarita.

Chilangos has two other Dallas locations, on Harry Hines Boulvard and Akard Street.
