There has been a fair amount of speculation in recent months regarding East Dallas resident Marc Cassel. Following his departure from Dragonfly, devoted Green Room junkies have been waiting and hoping for the second coming of that most beloved Deep Ellum restaurant. Nobody can feed us and wine us quite like Marc, it seems. Rumors abound.

Now, from deep in the austere, climate-controlled galleries of the Dallas Museum of Art comes word that Mr. Cassel has taken the controls at both the DMA’s Seventeen Seventeen Restaurant and at the Atrium Cafe. Our inside source, known only as "Deep Dish" is closely related to our other source that tipped us to Ali Baba’s new Lakewood location, so confidence is very high.

As noted on the Seventeen Seventeen website, the restaurant is closed until April 1 for a "menu refresh".  I might give him a little time before visiting. He was heard to comment that he has much to do before installing his famous flat screen tv’s in the kitchen. In any event, it isn’t quite the second coming of the Green Room. Only the Atrium Cafe is open in the evenings and then only on Thursdays.
