The Lakewood Neighborhood Association’s sixth annual Texas hold ’em poker tournament is set for Tuesday night at Times Ten Cellars. A $100 donation gets you $3,000 in poker chips and pays for public beautification projects in Lakewood. The prizes include a 42-inch flatscreen HDTV. If $100 is too steep, there will be $20 tables with less expensive prizes.

Tournament organizer Rick Salmeron said players of all skill levels are welcome, and there is no age limit on entrants since it’s a charity tournament and there is no cash prize. "If you’re a first-time player or a master poker player, there is a table for you," he said.

The neighborhood association recently painted the brick wall on Abrams between Sondra and Kenwood, which was paid for with proceeds from past tournaments. Proceeds also pay for public landscaping and other projects.  Follow this link to register for the tournament in advance, or show up to donate and play. They will start serving food and drinks at 6 p.m. and the tournament starts at 7 p.m.
