This weekend’s Bi-District UIL theater competition sent two East Dallas schools to the next round.

Bryan Adams High School placed second with its performance of “Anatomy of Gray” and Woodrow High School locked in third with its rendition of “The Chrysalids.”

For Bryan Adams, Jade Bolte of Bryan Adams won best actress for the role of June. Angel Arguijo made the all-star cast. Sema’J Johunkin and Moses Nevaquaya earned honorable mentions as all-star cast members and Juan “Jay” Espinoza was deemed an all-star tech crew member.

For Woodrow, Quinn Bull and Kendyl Loper were named to the all-star cast and Jayden Ramirez was honorable mention.

UIL’s One-Act Play contest was founded in 1927 and is the largest play festival in the world. More than 14,000 Texas high school students perform more than 1,200 18-40-minute one-act plays during the competition. Both schools will compete in the Area competition at Keller High School today with a chance to qualify for regionals, which is one level away from state.
