Besides avoiding a highly contagious disease, steering clear of road closures and construction work is another reason to stay home this weekend.
Both directions of Loop 12, as well as the bridge at Mockingbird Lane and Peavy Road, will close for a bridge demolition, according to a Texas Department of Transportation news release.
The closures are needed to demolish the second half of the old bridge. When completed, it will feature two lanes in both directions and sidewalks on each side. The outer traffic lanes will be wider, shared lanes to accommodate motorists and bicyclists.
Weather permitting, the closures will begin at 10 p.m. Friday and reopen at 5 a.m. Monday.
