“We’ve served thousands – large groups, couples, families, dates, business meetings, podcast tapings and political events, all in one spot. We needed to deal with an issue – how to deal with instances of out-of-control kids,” Alexis said on Facebook. “‘Family-friendly’ means kids are welcome at Birdie’s Eastside – but we will not allow a few bad kids to endanger our staff or disrupt everyone else.”

Recent modifications have been implemented at Birdie’s. The left side of the patio is now serves as a designated play area for families. A proctor has been added to ensure parents supervise their children and adhere to rules.

Numerous benches and cocktail tables have been installed in the play area, allowing families to lounge while waiting for their tables.

“The play area is for playing. The rest of Birdie’s is not,” Alexis said.

The walk-up bar now offers food for adult guests to enjoy in the waiting areas while their children play, or they can order all finger food and dine in the play area without waiting for a table.

The other side of Birdie’s patio operates on a  “butts in seats” policy, Alexis said. Families can dine there, guests of all ages must be seated for service. Due to the popularity of this dining spot, the restaurant has doubled the amount of seats and lounges for the area.

Additionally, customers 21 and up can enjoy the cocktail lounge, with a separate back room available for private adult gatherings.

With these recent adjustments, the family-friendly restaurant says it aims to cater to everyone.

“We have really well-defined ‘areas’ for all Birdie’s Eastside guests to get along,” Alexis added.
