After nine years, salon-themed bar and dance club Beauty Bar is shutting its doors. Known for its crowded dance floor and eclectic music mixes playing at all times, Beauty Bar first opened in Knox-Henderson in 2011 before relocating to Deep Ellum in May of last year. It lived a short life of about 10 months on 2805 Main St., before it was forced to temporarily shut down, eventually having to permanently close.

Between Beauty Bar’s two locations, resident DJ Blake Ward estimates that he played over 450 DJ sets over the course of nine years.

“We had the best dance floor in Dallas, the best crowd, and the most fun,” Ward says. “No place will ever feel quite like home like Beauty Bar did, as I literally grew up at the Henderson location. Every member of the staff is like family to me, and now that family is being split apart by something out of our control.”

Although the original Knox-Henderson location was open longer, Ward says the Deep Ellum crowd was equally as energetic. While he is crestfallen over Beauty Bar’s closure, he remains optimistic.

“While we had an absolutely magnificent run, we weren’t done yet,” Ward says. “Had it not been for current events, we would still be giving it our best.”
