After eight years in the Lakewood shopping center, the School of Contemporary Ballet Dallas has relocated to the Mockingbird/Central Plaza Shopping Center. They are now located on the second floor above Whole Earth Provision Co. and Jason’s Deli.

The school was located near Beads of Splendor and close to La Vista, and the move leaves another empty storefront in the Lakewood shopping center. A letter posted online to  students states that the school’s lease was up in August 2013 and “we will not be renewed by the new management, [Lincoln Property Co.]. … Lakewood has been our home for 11 years and counting, and we are sad to have to leave the heart of Lakewood here at the shopping center.”

The letter, written by co-founder Valerie Tabor and school director Lindsay DiGiuseppe Bowman, goes on to say that “[the move] is bittersweet, but we are excited about our potential growth, extending our reach, expanding our programs and new possibilities!”

The new Mockingbird  location is open and holding limited classes this week. On Jan. 21, all five studios will be completed, and there will be an expanded class schedule with more weekday class options for adults.
