The seafood restaurant on Peavy Road was co-founded by Marc Cassel and Suzan Fries in 2013. It closed in March 2020 at the start of the pandemic, and it never reopened. In 2021, The Dallas Morning News reported that Cassel couldn’t renegotiate his lease, and the restaurant had to vacate the property.

About a year ago, there was talk that Zalat Pizza would open a location there. But talk didn’t last long. This past March, Zalat’s CEO told the Morning News that there wasn’t enough parking. Plans were abandoned, and some neighbors didn’t seem to care, because Greenville Avenue Pizza Co. is across the street. Cultivar Coffee Roasting Co., Goodfriend and Hello Dumpling are all at the intersection, too.

We have news. A certificate of occupancy application was submitted earlier this month, and is now under review, for Lubbies Bagels at 1160 Peavy Road.

A neighbor who says she spoke with the incoming shop’s owner shared on Facebook that the bagel place would offer breakfast, lunch, salads, espresso, coffee and Italian sodas. According to that neighbor, the estimated opening date is around April.

The Advocate is trying to get in touch with the owner to learn more, but for now, we wanted to let you know what we know.
