Today I interviewed Tom Bazzone, president and CEO of the Green Living Store in Lakewood, for a story in the August Advocate. Someone said I am a “green reporter” since I was writing with a green fine-point Sharpie pen.

“We need to get you a recycled notebook, though,” he says. “You should use poo paper.”

I made a gnarly face. Surely he doesn’t mean POO poo, right?

But yes. He handed me a journal made from elephant dung. “Gross,” I told him.

It turns out, some people think this poo paper is a good alternative to dead trees. They let the elephant dung dry out, and then they process it into paper. Each turd can make about 25 sheets.

But who came up with that idea?
