Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) needs more male volunteers to help fight for abused children in the legal system. This Thursday, from 6-8 p.m., enjoy the a reception at their headquarters at 2757 Swiss Ave. TheĀ barbecue and beerĀ will be followed by an information for men to learn about how they can be involved.Ā  Call 214-827-8961 to reserve your spot.Ā

Head to Klyde Warren Park for a District 14Ā Ā Town HallĀ August 28 at 6:30 p.m. Councilman Philip KingstonĀ will be discussing the city budget and taking your input.

Check out the Retrospective Art Gallery Show at C.C. Young, which opens this Friday at The Point with a reception called The pARTy with champagne and free valet parking from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The free event is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and guests can see a variety of artists featured at The Point over the last 10 years.

The Canvas People will be performing at the Granada Theater Friday night. The indie rock band’s show will start at 10 p.m., and tickets are $10-$20.

This Sunday from 1-3 p.m., join Upcycle Organizing for a period packing party. Volunteers will help pack cosmetic bags for teens that don’tĀ  have adequate feminine hygiene supplies. The packs will beĀ donated to Focus on Teens, a Dallas nonprofit that supports homeless high schoolers. Beverages and snacks will be provided at Debby Rogers’ house at 6312 Bryan Pkwy.

Every Tuesday, head to Local Traveler for Tiki Bar Tuesdays, withĀ $5 Tiki Cocktails, $5 Beer.and $2 Tacos. The back patio looks out onto a wooded lot and is accessible from the Santa Fe Trail. The tiki bar will be open from 6 p.m. to close on Tuesdays.Ā
