A couple years ago we wrote about archery in our summer things-to-try story. That’s when we met the TAA director Clint Montgomery. He told us how the  archery club began near our area as a benefit for Texas Instrument employees. The non-profit organization and its facilities migrated into Plano and North Dallas. Now they are bringing a sprawling new archery range back to within a few miles of where it all originated.

The new Walnut Hill-Central facility occupies almost 12,000 square feet within the ground level retail/parking garage under Spec’s liquor store, Montgomery announced via an email.

The range is expected to be open to the public January 2014.

Back in 2012 Montgomery stressed his intention to make archery available to everyone. He echoes that sentiment now. “The indoor academies are our community outreach—a portal of access for the public to discover archery. In a controlled indoor environment, the public can come in and shoot a bow…. this gives us a chance to make archery accessible to more Texans.”
